Dalaman Airport is an international airport and one of three serving south-west Turkey, the others being Milas-Bodrum Airport and Antalya Airport. It has two terminals the old terminal is used for domestic flights and the new terminal is for international flights. The airport serves the bulk of tourist travel in and out of Marmaris. Flights are available to and from over 120 destinations, across the rest of Turkey, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
The new Dalaman International Terminal cost approximately $150,000,000 to complete and is the 3rd largest terminal building in Turkey. There are 12 boarding gates - 8 with covered airbridges. The apron was also re-designed, increasing space for remote stands. Consequently, the airport has capacity to handle up to 35 flights at any one time. In total, the terminal now has floor space of 95,000m2, compared with less than 45,000m2 prior to it's refurbishment.
Check-in and departures are based on the upper two levels, with arrivals using the lower two levels. Parking facilities are available for up to 550 vehicles outside the terminal building.
ATM Dalaman International Terminal has been awarded the ISO 9001 Quality Certificate, the ISO 14001 Environment Certificate, the TS 13001 HACCP Food Safety Certificate and the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. The airport has also received praise for its environmentally conscious design, especially for the use of natural lighting in its main hall.
The new international terminal of Dalaman Airport has a full range of facilities; this includes fast food outlets, duty free, bars and cafés, as well as a 24hr medical centre and two banks (Vakıfbank & Denizbank). The airport also has the world's first duty-free outlet store in the departure lounge.
Prices for food and drink are very high and there have been many complaints recorded on Internet forums, but airport prices are usually high no matter where you are anyway.
Thanks to this new terminal with a ten million passenger capacity meeting the needs of the region that includes the most important tourism spots on the Turkish Riviera such as Datça, Marmaris, Göcek, Dalyan, Sarıgerme, Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Kalkan and Kaş, it has attained a level at which the increasing numbers of planes and passengers will be easily handled. Dalaman International Airport Terminal may render service to 4,000 passengers and 5,000 baggage per hour thanks to 60 Check-In counters, where the required infrastructure for the passengers to perform early Check-In in their hotels is also provided to make their travel less harried.
There are taxis in front of the terminal 24 hours a day. Havaş Ground Services has bus service to Marmaris and Fethiye during the day. Also Havaş shuttle buses are present in Marmaris and Fethiye for the passengers wishing to come back to Dalaman Airport. The time schedule of the shuttle services to and from the airport is based on the times of airline flights. In addition, the terminal also provides wireless fast internet service using WI-FI technology for the convenience of travelers.
